What's up with the Braves ?

Back in 1990 I was 12 and the Minnesota Twins sucked. One team that sucked even more was the Atlanta Braves. In 1991, both teams went from worst to first and battled in what might be the best World Series ever. The Braves dominated the 90s in the regular season, but only managed to win one World Series in 1994 if my memory serves me right (I don't feel like double-checking).

I've never been to Atlanta, but I know Coca Cola, CNN and Ludacris live there. Well I'm not sure Ludacris still lives there, but he's from there I believe. Elton John is a Braves fan. I think he lives in Georgia as well but he's a true brit and has been named a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1996. Elton received a knighthood from HM Queen Elizabeth II for "services to music and charitable services" in 1998.

Here's a seriously weird and cheesy video from Sir Elton John.

  1. Elton John looks a bit giddy and unreal in the coat.

  3. OMG that was the best series ever. Dad and I were at Marcy and Steve's house for a college visit and we called Mom to tell her we got there and she said "Oh, Dan, your friend Chris called and wanted to know if you were interested in going to the 7th game of the World Series." And then we watch Jack Morris throw a 10-inning shut-out. Stupid college.

  4. Braves will be featured in my racist sports names post coming soon.

Remember Jane Fonda doing the "Tomahawk Chop" with her boyfriend Ted Turner?

  5. Great foto of Elton. My parents live south of Atlanta, so we go there a lot. And we have been on the Coca Cola tour.
